General FAQ
What is stained glass?
Stained glass is a timeless art form in which colored or painted glass is used to create beautiful images or patterns, traditionally seen in churches, historic buildings, and homes. At Stained Glass Inc., we create stained glass panels using advanced techniques such as color pigmentation, laminating films, sandblasting, and custom painting to bring vivid designs to life.
What is polymer?
Polymer is a durable, lightweight alternative to traditional stained glass, made from high-quality polycarbonates and acrylics. Designed to be shatter-resistant and easy to install, our polymer stained glass panels offer the same vibrant beauty as real stained glass but with increased durability and flexibility, making them suitable for both residential and commercial spaces.
What are polymer stained glass inserts?
Our inserts are custom panels crafted from polymer to fit over your existing windows, instantly transforming them into colorful, artistic displays. Featuring designs from our extensive catalog or custom artwork, these inserts offer the charm of traditional stained glass without the need for structural changes, providing an easy and beautiful enhancement to any room.
Are polymer inserts meant to replace existing exterior windows or doors?
Do you offer repair services?
We do not offer repair services. Our focus is on creating custom panels and fulfilling new design requests. We recommend reaching out to a local stained glass specialist or restoration expert for repair needs.
How large can you make the stained glass panels?
We can create artwork as large as your facility allows. For shipping, we limit a single unit to 5' by 10', but multiple units can be combined into a larger piece.
Do the panels, lightboxes, or domes come as one piece or in pieces?
This depends on the size as smaller units are usually one piece, while larger ones are modular for easy assembly.
Will there be color and finish variations?
Yes, each piece is unique, with variations that add beauty and character.
Can I install them myself?
Generally, yes. If the artwork requires lighting, some installations may need an electrician.
How do I maintain the artwork?
Minimal care is needed. Dust with a soft, lint-free cloth and clean with mild soap and water if necessary. Avoid abrasive or chemical cleaners.
