Jesus Teaches in the Temple Panel #14746
A Tiffany design. This stained glass window depicts Jesus Teaching in the Temple, when Mary finds him. The stained glass church window is based on Luke. In the Gospel of Luke, when Jesus was twelve years old, he traveled with his parents to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. After the festival ended, his parents began their journey back to their hometown, but Jesus remained behind in the temple in Jerusalem. When his parents realized that Jesus was missing, they searched for him and eventually found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. The teachers were amazed at his understanding and knowledge, and Jesus was engaged in a discussion with them. Jesus' actions in the temple are seen as a foreshadowing of his future role as a teacher and spiritual leader.
