Saint Agustine Panel #12629
This stained glass window features Saint Augustine in his bishop's robes writing in his book. Saint Augustine as bishop was a famous Catholic writer. He was founder of the Religious Priests and is considered by many one of the greatest saints that ever lived. Saint Augustine was the famous son of Saint Monica. His story is a story of wicked living and false beliefs until he was converted through the prayers of his mother and the preaching of Saint Ambrose. Even after his conversion, Saint Augustine did not become a Christian because he thought he could never live a pure life. One day he heard of two men who had been converted reading of the life of Saint Anthony, and he felt shame. “What are we doing?” he told his friend Alitius, “Unlearned people are taking heaven by force, while we with all our knowledge are so cowardly that we keep rolling around in the mud of our sins!” Augustine read a letter to Saint Paul and was converted. He was baptized and became a priest, then a bishop and a great writer. This stained glass window is tall and narrow and would be ideal for any church wanting a depiction of this great saint. You can search for windows of Saint Augustine using the search function above to see other options that are available.
A religious window like this would make a good addition to a house of worship or a hospital chapel.
